Case in point: University Health System’s hospital in San Antonio, Texas, had 7000 smart IV pumps in stock, but a utilization rate of less than 45%. That translated into less than 10% of the pumps being available at any given time, and patients were waiting up to two hours for nurses to find an available pump and begin treatment.

The result was a 70% equipment utilization rate and cutting patient wait times down to 8–12 minutes.
